Shipping & Returns
Everything you need to know about how we deliver your whisky safely to your door.
Shipping Overview
We ship all items using the best courier services available. All deliveries are insured by us at our cost, though in some cases we are unable to insure the entire cost due to insurance limits with couriers.
We are unable to guarantee shipping times but will always do our best to find the most efficient courier possible. If you need the item by a particular date, please reach out to us first so we can advise if this date can be met.
Age Verification
As per the Liquor Control Reform Act 1998, if you are asked for proof of age on delivery, you must provide a valid acceptable proof of age card. All deliveries must be signed by an adult over the age of 18 as proof of receipt at the intended address.
Australia Post (Primary Courier)
We now use Australia Post as our primary courier service due to greater reliability, despite being the most expensive service.
- Australia Post will attempt the initial delivery
- If no one is available to sign, the package will be sent to the nearest Australia Post depot
- You must collect the item from the depot with suitable identification
Sendle Courier
Please Note: Due to an extremely poor experience with failed collections, we are not currently shipping with Sendle despite being one of the cheapest options available.
Aramex Courier
Please Note: Due to an extremely poor experience with Aramex support, we no longer ship with Aramex despite being the cheapest option. The carrier is authorised to deliver goods at the nominated address. If neither re-delivery nor pick up by the receiver can be effected within 7 days, the carrier may return the goods.
Returned Deliveries
Any returned items due to failed attempted deliveries will have two options:
- Re-delivery: We can re-send the delivery to you at your cost. Shipping costs on re-delivery will be calculated and quoted, and you will have the option to include or not include insurance. Whisky Discovery normally absorbs the insurance costs — these are not quoted in our flat-rate shipping.
- Refund: We can refund the purchase at the purchase price less the original shipping costs that we paid.
Damaged Items
All items are carefully packaged to ensure safe delivery. In the unlikely event that an item arrives damaged, please contact us immediately with photos of the damage. We will work with you and the courier to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Returns
Due to the nature of our products — rare, vintage and collectible whisky — we generally do not accept returns unless the item has arrived damaged or is not as described. Please contact us if you have any concerns about your order.
Insurance
All deliveries are insured by Whisky Discovery at our cost. In some cases, we may be unable to insure the entire cost of high-value items due to courier insurance limits. For particularly high-value orders, we may discuss alternative shipping arrangements with you to ensure full coverage.
